Nintendo Switch might be a great console but there’s no shame in admitting that it really doesn’t come with a lot of storage space. With games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild taking 13.5GB of space it’s really easy for the meager 32GB storage to fill up. (with just 25.9GB available to users)

If you want to play more than a single game on the go then you’ll definitely have to buy a Micro SD Card to expand the storage space for your Nintendo Switch but not all Micro SD cards are made equal. We’ve done the research for you to bring you the best Nintendo Switch Memory Cards on the market so that you can enjoy gaming on the go like never before.
But before we get to that we've had a little look at two key factors which influence what Switch SD card to go for.

What Size Card?
What size card

If you’re unsure about what size Nintendo Switch memory card to spend your money on, how you use your Switch should influence your decision. Gamers who mostly buy physical games, which is great for a trade in! But will only use the eshop infrequently will get away with 16GB at a squeeze but up to 64GB is safer.
Anyone who downloads or buys digital games regularly would quickly fill up the inbuilt storage and would be better suited to a good 128GB card. To highlight this, Doom comes in at a whopping 21.3GB of data. So five popular games, Doom, La Noire, Fifa 18 and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 all on one card would need 75.2GB of space.

Memory Card Speed

Nintendo recommend a Switch memory card that supports UHS-1 (Ultra High Speed) and have read speeds of between 60-95mb/s. However, as this is a recommendation rather than a requirement the Switch does support cards slower than 60 mb/s. If you’re looking for optimal game play with minimal loading lag then you’re preferably buy a Class 10 card with UHS-1 and above. The ‘Class’ of a card denotes it’s possible write speed ie Class 4 (4MB/s), Class 6 (6MB/s) or Class 10 (10MB/s). Which means it’s important not just to buy based on class but also read the tech spec to find the read speed to reduce the risk of long game load times.
